FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with producing sulfuric acid from sulfur-containing off-gases. One measures inlet and outlet temperatures for all contact layers and then value of outlet temperature deviation from its assigned value for each layer is found from the following equation: ΔTout,i= Tout,i-Tout.as.i, where ΔTout,i is measured outlet temperature value for i-th layer and Tout.as.i is a corresponding assigned one. Correction of assigned inlet temperature for i-th layer is found from the following equation: ΔTin.as.i= - KiΔTout.i, where Ki is proportionality coefficient for i-th layer. Inlet temperature is adjusted by varying input of cold part of initial gas mixture into internal heat exchangers before catalyst beds. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl
