FIELD: chemistry. SUBSTANCE: this process for manufacture of sulfuric acid by cyclic method from gas that contains about 50 to 70 % of sulfur dioxide prescribes oxidizing sulfur dioxide in sulfur trioxide in three steps, carrying out intermediate absorption of resultant sulfur trioxide, dividing absorbed gas at second oxidizing stage into three flows at volumetric ratio between first, second and third flows of (0.23 to 0.35):(0.46 to 0.58): (0.12 to 0.25), respectively, directing first flow to third catalysis stage, second flow to first bed of catalyst of second stage and third flow to last two beds of catalyst of second stage.
