FIELD: hydroelectric power engineering; construction of head works in case of lack of space on rivers carrying heavy debris. SUBSTANCE: head works has spillway dam with surface water outlet 2, with sludge bowl 3 having chambers 4 arranged along it on upstream side. Top wall 5 of dam 1 functions as one of walls of sludge bowl 3, and foundation plate of dam 1 is used as sludge bowl bottom; sludge bowl 3 has water blow outlet 7 with main and duplicate gates 9 and 10, respectively. As water enters sludge bowl 3, its flow speed reduces and sludge settles down on bottom of chambers 4. Upon accumulation of sludge, gate 9 opens in water blow outlet 7, and sludge flows downstream. EFFECT: improved design. 2 dwg
