FIELD: technology of production of compression-molded composite materials; may be used in high-way and construction engineering, aviation, mechanical engineering and other industries. SUBSTANCE: invention offers a new functional composite material only from natural combustible shale in which its own components act as a binder, filler and process additives. Compression-molded material is produced by selection of optimal conditions of heat treatment and compression molding of natural shale under which high mechanical and physical properties are attained (compression strength of 90.0 MPa, water absorption of 0.9%), relatively low cost and ecological cleanness of composite material. Combustible shale is subjected to heat treatment at 140-190 C for 30-90 min with subsequent compression molding at the pressure of 36-146 MPa. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 1 tbl
