FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: freshly fabricated polyimide fibers are stretched by a factor 1: 4 to 1:10, joined, e.g. by needle-punching technique in the form of nonwoven material and subjected to heat treatment at 280-350 C. Before this treatment, fibers contain 0.5-3.0% of low-molecular components including solvent for polymers and oligomers. Density of material is at most 1.20 g/cu.cm, rupture strength 5-24 N/sq.mm, elongation 6-55%, bend strength up to 28 N/sq.mm. EFFECT: improved consumer's quality. 5 cl, 4 dwg, 3 tbl
