FIELD: forestry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has auxiliary stop positioned adjacent to stump gripping zone and formed as plated toothed chain. One end of chain is connected to hydraulic cylinders of grip and other end is attached to columns. Auxiliary stop is connected to double-armed stop through pivot joint. Double-armed stop is additionally coupled with columns through extension springs, with front part of double-armed lever relative to fastening shaft is made shorter than rear part. Hydraulic cylinders of grip are connected into single unit through strips and are connected with columns through stems with restricting washers. Hydraulic cylinders are spring-loaded by compression springs. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction and enhanced reliability in operation. 2 cl, 6 dwg
