FIELD: gas turbines. SUBSTANCE: tightly fitted metal wires are packed primarily by winding it. Pack obtained is held in position by compression between side packing plates, trimmed over working and opposite ends, and at the latter, pack and plates are welded together. In the course of winding metal wires, small groups of layers are relatively positioned by means of auxiliary spacers at non-working end. Compression force is applied only along spacer width between plates and the latter are welded to pack. electron-beam welding at non-working end is most effective for the purpose. Welding area is doped through auxiliary spacers made of same material as that of main component of wires with finely dispersed doping elements uniformly arranged in it. EFFECT: improved quality of brush packing. 2 cl, 4 dwg
