FIELD: hardware industry, more particularly coating of airborne brass plated wire. SUBSTANCE: lubricating composition protects surface of airborne brass plated wire from effects of atmospheric corrosion and provides high adhesion of wire to rubber when using wire to manufacture tyres. Lubricating composition comprises petroleum oil and addition agent. The addition agent is stillage residue resulting from rectification of liquid phase isolated while cooling coking products of heavy petroleum residues of thermal cracking, the ratio of components being as follows, wt.-%: 5-7 of stillage residue resulting from rectification of liquid fraction isolated while cooling coking products of heavy petroleum residues of thermal cracking; petroleum oil, 93-95. EFFECT: improved properties of the lubricating composition. 2 tbl
