GATE VALVE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of fittings; shutting-off pipe lines in water, heat and gas supply systems. SUBSTANCE: gate valve includes body provided with cover and connected with inlet and outlet branch pipes. Shut-off member with movable jaws is mounted in cavity of body. Mechanism for motion of these jaws is made in form of rod with hand wheel; free of rod is located inside shut-off member and is engageable with jaws by means of spacer members. Gate valve is provided with shut-off member turn mechanism. Shut-off member is made in form of closed hollow cylinder whose generatrix surface has two pairs of coaxial holes in two mutually perpendicular planes. One pair of coaxial holes has form and size of passage which are equal to these of inlet and outlet branch pipes. Second pair of holes is rectangular in cross section. Movable jaws of shut-off member are made in form of rectangular -shaped plates bent over generatrix of cylinder. Bent web of each plate is located on outer side of cylinder and is coated with ebonite and rubber layers; base is movably mounted in rectangular hole of cylinder. Spacer members of jaw motion mechanism are made in form of L-shaped levers. One arm of each lever is connected with rod. Other arm is connected with base of shut-off member jaws. Outer end of rod is provided with handwheel. Shut-off member turn mechanism is made in form of pipe rigidly connected with handle and taper axle coaxially secured in bottom of body. Lower base of cylinder of shut-off member freely rests against taper axle. Rod is mounted coaxially relative to hollow pipe mounted in cover of body for axial turn. EFFECT: fast response of gate valve; enhanced tightness of shutting-off pipe lines. 3 dwg
