FIELD: thyristor direct current electric drives which use two-region speed control and operate with shock-impact load, such as electric drives of cages of continuous and reversing rolling-mills. SUBSTANCE: method involves alternation of armature voltage by means of speed control system with speed regulator and dependent circuit which regulates armature current. Then control voltage is generated which controls excitation current. In order to achieve this, measured excitation current is compared to voltage which is proportional to nominal rectified electromotive force of thyristor converter. Voltage from output of regulator of rectified electromotive force is used as setting voltage for excitation current regulator which performs comparison of this voltage and measured excitation current for regulation of excitation current. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 3 dwg
