SUBSTANCE: method includes strain resistors output signals metering with results indication, diagnostic device connected to indication block for metering results reading out by line to test commutator fault. Results of metering are brought out to indication block from each executive part of commutator by line and metering data amount on each line is equal to number of control trenches of first step gates of commutator executive part, lines number is equal to quotient of control trenches number of commutator executive part and metering data number for one line. Commutator faults presence in corresponding control trench are determined by metering results analyzing which indicate type of fault, breaks and short circuits. Method may be useful for multistage structure of commutator switching members controlled for each steps by positional code using.
