FIELD: testing engineering. SUBSTANCE: specimen of sheet symmetrical balanced composition material being examined is combined with specimen of sheet metal standard material of known temperature coefficient of linear expansion. Specimens cannot be displaced relative to each other. Composite specimen is heated (cooled) to preset temperature, then it is allowed to stay till uniform temperature is set over the entire bulk of specimens. Displacements of preset of composite specimen longitudinal axis are measured by normal in specimen contact plane, and variation of curvature of composite specimen longitudinal axis is calculated. Temperature coefficient of linear expansion of sheet composition material is calculated by values of variation of temperature and curvature of composite specimen longitudinal axis with due regard for known coefficient of linear expansion, geometrical dimensions and rigidity of metal and composition specimens.
