FIELD: experimental equipment. SUBSTANCE: coefficients of linear expansion in specified directions of anisotropies of material in finished structure are determined without its destruction with the use of thermally stable resistance strain gauges pasted to its surface and sample with known high-stability coefficient of linear expansion. Comparing increments of resistance of resistance strain gauges with their joint heating or cooling one finds coefficient of linear expansion of anisotropic composite material by formula given in description of invention.
