FIELD: alcohol industry. SUBSTANCE: mixture of substances is fed into distillation column provided with contact arrangements for liquid-vapor interaction. Process further includes removing vapors from the top of column, boiling still product, and returning vapors into lower part of column, while a part of vapors leaving contact arrangement is taken off and subsequently returned into column. Such part of vapors is taken off from at least one of contact arrangements and it is introduced into vapor stream or liquid stream directed into at least one preceding contact arrangements and/or that part of vapors is returned into liquid stream directed into the same contact arrangement but introduced below liquid level into the point preceding vapor taking off in the direction of vapor displacement. Vapors are returned without their full condensation. Apparatus includes distillation column provided with contact arrangements having means to take off a part of vapors. At least one of contact arrangements is additionally provided with a means to introduce taken off vapors, which is positioned below the point from where vapors are taken off in the direction of movement of main vapor stream.
