FIELD: oil industry. SUBSTANCE: device has reaction vessel, heating member, temperature gauge, and means for determining fractional composition made up as three fiber-optic wave guides and optical commutator mounted inside the reaction vessel and connected with a light source and a system for processing signals. One of the wave guides is mounted at the side surface of the vessel and has two branches that are connected with the optical commutator. The two other wave guides are positioned in the intermediate portion of the vessel at a distance of 2.5 diameters of the spherical bottom of the vessel and connected with the optical commutator. The vessel is made up as a hollow cylinder the bottom base of which is spherical and provided with a reflecting layer on its inner surface . At its top are discharging branch pipe provided with a valving member and cover. A sample of a fuel is set in the vessel and the intensity of light is measured with the fiber-optic pickup as well as the initial level of fluid is determined. The sample is heated up to a boiling temperature and is conditioned. The intensity of light is then measured again and by the value of variation in the light intensity one can judge the fractional composition of a fuel. EFFECT: improved accuracy. 3 cl, 1 dwg
