FIELD: mechanical engineering; designing of piston axial engines. SUBSTANCE: engine has cylinder with ceramic liners in which two pistons are fitted being rigidly coupled by gear rack. Rack is in meshing with two gears which transmit torque to power takeoff shafts through overrunning clutches and power takeoff shafts, in their turn, transmit torque to output shaft gear. Cylinder has channels to deliver air into engine by means of turbocompressor, and exhaust gas valves, fuel and water nozzles and cylinder pressure transmitters. Engine is closed at two sides by covers with inner heat insulating coating. Working side of each piston has heat insulating coating over which porous coating is applied material of which features high thermal conductivity and heat capacity. Piston position transmitter and piston movement speed transmitter are mounted on extreme side surface of cylinders. Engine has electronic unit which controls injection of fuel and water by signals from transmitters. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 7 cl, 1 dwg
