FIELD: organic chemistry and technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves catalytic reduction of 2-azoxyanisole in alkaline solution using Raney nickel suspension as catalyst that contains alkaline metal aluminates at amount 5.5% (not less). Hydrogen under pressure 5-15 atm is used as reducing agent and concentration of alkaline solution is 18-25%. Process is carried out at 40-75 C. Synthesized 2-hydrazoanisole is used for synthesis of dianisidine sulfate used for synthesis of dyes.
