FIELD: mechanical engineering; cylinder-piston groups for engines with flow-through cooling system. SUBSTANCE: heat insulating coating is applied to outer side of cylinder liner. Coating is made in form of equal and discrete portions uniformly arranged over perimeter and height of liners. Each portion of coating is placed in corresponding depression made in housing on part of arc over its perimeter. Discrete portions of coating can be arranged over water cooled surface of liner in staggered order. Coating can be applied by plasma spraying method. EFFECT: improved quality of heat insulation of engine liners. 4 cl, 3 dwg
