FIELD: control of operation of oil wells. SUBSTANCE: the device for control of well pumping system has drive motor connected by a set of sucker-rods with downhole pump, means for measurement of load on sucker rods in pump reciprocation in cycle of pressure, means for measuring the position of sucker rods in reciprocation of pump in pressure cycle and means for construction of diagram with measured values of positions and loads, computing means for determination of value of area of diagram part, means for presetting the reference value of area, means for comparison of determined value of area with its reference value, and control means for variation of working parameters of well system on the basis of results of comparison of the determined value of area with the reference value, means for plotting on diagram of reference value of load which is larger than, at least, some values measured in pressure stroke downward, and two reference values of position in pressure downward stroke. Computing means are made for determination of value of area of the diagram lower part limited from atop by indicated reference value of load and covered between reference values position.
