DEVICE FOR INSTALLING BOOM BARRIER ON WATER SURFACE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: environment protection. SUBSTANCE: device has external suspension unit for helicopter 1, swivel and current collector 2, truss 3 pivotally connected with swivel and current collector, electric locks 5, 6, load-carrying member 7, additional electric locks 8, 9, boom barrier 10 suspended from electric lock 5 by slings 11, anchors 12 to 15 with anchor ropes 16. After bringing boom barrier 10 packed as compact kit to spilt oil location, lock 5 opens and boom barrier 10 together with anchor 12 is dropped to water surface. In continued flying helicopter performs placement of first section of boom barrier, then it drops anchor 13 and continues doing like this until complete barrier is fully installed. Device allows for placement from helicopter of boom barriers of various configurations: V-shaped, double-row, enclosed contour, depending on actual conditions for efficient protection from spreading of spilt oil.
