FIELD: fuels for internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: to reduce toxicity of exhaust gases of carburetor and diesel engines, nickel salts of C10- C16-fatty acids are proposed to be used as gasoline and diesel fuel additives. Optimal amount of additive is 0.5-1.0 mg per 1 kg of gasoline and 1.0-2.0 mg per 1 kg of diesel fuel. EFFECT: reduced content of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and phenols in carburetor engine exhaust gas and the same plus soot in diesel engine exhaust.
