SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of reducing octane number requirements for petrol car engines, which involves adding a [CnH2n+1COO]2Ni (where n=10-16) additive to petrol in amount of 9-10 mg/kg petrol.
EFFECT: use of petrol with said additive enables the engine to operate without soot deposits and engine knock with minimal octane number of petrol.
