FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: claimed invention describes process for preparing butyl stearate by esterification of stearic acid with butanol on heating in the presence of acid catalyst. To accelerate process for preparing butyl stearate. The catalyst includes mixture of sulfuric and boric acids; the molar ratio thereof being 1:2-4, respectively. Process is carried out at stearic acid to butanol to catalyst molar ratio of 1:2.5-0.04 respectively, and product is recovered by distilling off reaction mixture at reduced pressure.
