METHOD OF PRODUCTION OF SEMIFINISHED ITEM FOR METALLURGICAL PROCESS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particular, production of metal charge for steel melting in arc furnaces. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes filling of multicasting machine with solid additives, and then, liquid cast iron is poured on them. First, introduced into space of mold is substance liberating gas at temperature less than temperature of poured cast iron in the amount of 6-12% of its mass. Mold is filled with melt in the amount of 26-60% of its working volume. Gas liberating substance for reduction of density of semifinished item is used in form of metal carbonates (limestone, dolomite, etc) and organic compounds, for instance, caprolactam. Density of semifinished item is reduced by 20-30% as compared with pigs cast by casting machines. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 1 tbl
