FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more particularly preparation of blend for steel and alloy making. SUBSTANCE: composite blend for conversion comprises metal containing additive, oxide material and carbon containing material as reducing agent (wt %): 40-82.8 metal containing additive; 17.1-50 oxide material, and 0.1-1.0 carbon-containing additive and further comprises carbide containing elements of iron, chromium, manganese, calcium, cobalt, vanadium, silicon and/or molybdenum. The carbon containing material comprises mixture of metal carbides and free carbon as graphite in (10-0.1):1 ratio. Oxide material further comprises slag forming components in amount of 5-50 % by weight of oxide material. EFFECT: improved properties of the blend. 4 cl, 4 tbl
