FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: relation between pressure before lance and depth on lance immersion into melt is described on the basis of experiment. Pressure is registered during the entire period of blowing. Position of lance relative to metal surface is determined continuously by inverse relationship: in lowering the lance to lower position - in function of measured pressure; and in the lower position of lance - by the last absolute minimum of smoothed time relationship of pressure.
