FIELD: electrochemical technology, particular, methods of production of active aluminum oxide widely used in composite catalysts applicable in hydrogenation processes. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes dissolving of alumina in acid or alkali with subsequent precipitation of aluminum hydroxide in one of compartments of electrolyzer at current density of 5-30 A/sq. dm, temperature of 80-90 C and 6 ≅ pH < 12. EFFECT: higher rate of product manufacture, considerable reduction of formation of sewage waters, higher quality of product and reduced consumption of precipitating agents and solvents. 1 tbl
