FIELD: technology of carbon-graphite materials, particular, electrochemical method of production of graphite bisulfate with high expansion ratio. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes anodic oxidation of graphite in solution of sulfuric acid. Anodic oxidation is conducted in potentiostatic mode in the region of potentials of 1-2 V at continuous supply of initial reagents. Sulfuric acid-graphite mass ratio is 1-3. The reactor for embodiment of the offered method has body with inner cylindrical surface with branch pipes for supply of graphite, sulfuric acid, and discharge of graphite bisulfate, and anode, cathode and diaphragm for prepressing of graphite to anode. Installed additionally in body and radially secured to axial horizontal shaft conveying blades for rotation and radial motion up to stop to anode surface. Diaphragm is made in form of ring with slots for blades forming isolated zones for electrochemical treatment of graphite. Cathode is made in form of wheel with slots for blades and secured to axial shaft. Anode is made in form of semiring and installed in lower part of body between branch pipes of loading and unloading. Diaphragm is secured to horizontal shaft and located in reactor body so that gap between diaphragm and anode semiring uniformly increases from supply branch pipe to discharge branch pipe by 1.5-3.0 times.
