FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: graphite powder is treated with oxidizing solution based on concentrated H2SO4 and NH4NO3 at consumption of NH4NO3 0.046-0.137 g/1 g graphite. Graphite bisulfate is separated from oxidizing solution excess up to its content less 1.5 g/1 g graphite, hydrolyzed, washed and dried. The obtained graphite bisulfate exhibits I-III grades. Properties: foam graphite expansion degree after thermic treatment of the oxidized graphite-III is 900, filled density is 1.1-9.0 g/l. Method is used for making flexible graphite foil and composition materials. EFFECT: improved method of producing. 1 tbl
