FIELD: electrochemical treatment of surface of metals and alloys to produce oxide coatings. SUBSTANCE: the essence of the invention consists in preliminary determination, in compliance with requirements to coating thickness, of number of cathode power modules in cathode group and number of anode modules in anode group to obtain the required maximum values of cathode and anode voltages. In unit of mode cycling the type of mode is set: anode, cathode, anode-cathode or break interval, and time of operation in each mode. Then, by switching in the device, the required mode of operation is set and respective electrical characteristics are selected and surface in subject to treatment. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 dwg
