FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for mining coal seams with stable or medium stable immediate roof. According to method, coal is mined in longwall along strike, using remotely controlled cutting and loading machine together with wedge-type support arrangement and mechanized support displacement mechanism. Installed over longwall is flexible long-length cylindrical shell made in the form of rubber tube with flexible walls and of diameter equal to maximal value of mined part of seam in extracted pillow close to cutting face at beginning of mining cycle and is moved after cutting face at termination of mining cycle.
