FIELD: handling of nuclear fuel waste, applicable for transportation and storage in basins of nuclear power plants. SUBSTANCE: the sheathed fuel assembly has a can with a bottom and an assembly with nuclear fuel waste installed inside it; the can is unsealed in the base and above the fuel assembly by means of groups of holes made in the can wall; the holes of the upper group are made at a height equal to 74 to 150 outside diameters of the cans, above the upper end of the fuel assembly. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 6 dwg
