FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: method involves mounting and clamping assembly in two-section case, separating of lower clamping tool, removing carrying rod and removing upper and lower beams of fuel elements in this order. Case is mounted in jacket which fixes upper section of case. Lower clamping tool is removed by twisting it out. Before lower beam of lower beam of fuel elements is removed from case it is lifted by means of vertical movement of lower section of case with respect to upper section. Corresponding device has vertical two-section case which has clamping tool for fuel assembly and tool which destroys clamping tool of lower tail end of fuel assembly. In addition device has jacket in which case is located. Upper section of case is mounted on upper end of jacket, lower section of case is mounted for movement by means of drive with respect to upper section of case. Tool which destroys clamping tool of lower tail end of fuel assembly is designed as key which is located in drive case, is located on lower end of jacket and is mounted for rotation of lower clamping tool. Spring loaded members are mounted in drive case above key in coaxial to longitudinal axis of case for engagement with channels of lower tail end of fuel assembly.
