FIELD: mechanical engineering; machining of workpieces with complex surfaces. SUBSTANCE: device has base, 1, movable platform 2 with tool head 3, linear travel motion drives 4, meters 5 to determine position of movable platform 2, arrangement 6 for fixing the workpiece. Arrangement 6 is made in form of holder 9 and post 8. Holder is secured on base 1 for linear and angular travel. Holder 9 has number of precision datum measuring surfaces 11, 12, 13. Surface position pickup 14 is arranged on tool head 3. Device 16 secured on post 8 serves to determine position of working surfaces of pickup 14. Having fixed workpiece 7 in platform 2 is moved to bring pickup 14 In engagement with device 16 and datum measuring surfaces 11, 12, 13. Meters 5 determine their position in space. Then, basing on information thus obtained, workpiece 7 is machined according to preset program. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 4 cl, 1 dwg
