FIELD: treatment of gaseous media contaminated with radionuclides; trapping of cesium radioactive aerosols from steam-gas phase to prevent emission of cesium and other radionuclides into surrounding atmosphere on occurrence of severe accidents at nuclear power plants. SUBSTANCE: method involves introduction of gaseous ammonia and organic acid in steamlike state into steam-gas phase, molar ratio of ammonia to organic acid being 1.2:1.0 to 3.0:1.0 and volume ratio of mixture of these agents to steam-gas phase being 1: 20 to 1:130. Dispersed phase of organic acid ammonia salt formed in the process traps radioactive aerosols thereby extracting cesium from steam-gas phase with cleaning factor of 500-3000. EFFECT: improved efficiency of steam-gas phase cleaning from cesium radioactive aerosols and other radionuclides, reduced corrosion activity of medium. 3 cl
