FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radioanalytical chemistry, namely to the technology of sorption extraction of cesium radionuclides from aqueous media, their concentration and determination of the content in the initial solution. Method comprises dynamic treatment of the solution by filtration through a layer of mixed zinc-potassium ferrocyanide on chitosan, separating cesium-137 from the sorbent by washing off with a 5M solution of ammonium nitrate NH4NO3 with the subsequent extraction of cesium-137 from the obtained eluate by the HPS nickel-potassium sorbent in the static mode at a solution volume and sorbent mass ratio of 100–1,000:1, wherein the eluate is preheated to 70–80 °C and dry NaOH is added thereto until gas evolution ceases, releasing NH3.
EFFECT: invention provides increased efficiency and profitability of the process due to the possibility of multiple passage of the sorbent used in the extraction of cesium-137 from the initial solution, sorption-regeneration cycle without reducing the sorption characteristics, increased efficiency of sorption of cesium-137 from the eluate on the HPS nickel-potassium sorbent, while improving environmental safety due to a significant reduction in the amount of nickel-containing wastes.
