FIELD: nuclear power engineering; preventing emission of fission products into surrounding atmosphere in case of accidents in nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: method involves introduction of mixture of ammonia, hydrogen halide and sulfuric has in molar proportion of 1.1:1.0:0.05 into gaseous phase; volume proportions of mixture of these gases in gaseous phase is (1:120):(1: 80). Ammonia halide and ammonia sulfite sediment is formed in contaminated gaseous phase which carries radionuclides away from gaseous phase, primarily cesium and iodine. EFFECT: high degree of gaseous phase cleaning from cesium and iodine, that is, two orders of magnitude lower content of cesium and three orders of magnitude of iodine in gaseous emissions.
