FIELD: medicine; surgery; liver resection; treatment of liver traumata. SUBSTANCE: proposed method resides in that, as first thread loop is formed, thread is gripped at its mid-length, fixed and drawn onto opposite surface, whereupon one end of thread is withdrawn, while other end is wound past liver margin. Next suturing apparatus produces through-going pricks-in and -out uniformly spaced-apart at distance 2 cm from each other, followed by gripping, fixing and withdrawing ends of continuous thread through one through-going end in liver, while releasing fixed thread on opposite surfaces. Thereupon, one thread end is used to grip preceding like-sign stitch in such manner as to form first fixation point by drawing thread end through apex of like-sign loop using thread end to form double X-shaped overlap, followed by tightening loop with thread end first towards loop itself, next placing it at mid-stitch level and finally inserting it into next regular through-going passage by index finger of hand. Ligature thus-formed is embedded into parenchyma from both surfaces of liver, whereupon both thread ends are again drawn onto opposite surface, on which above-described operations are repeated only with free thread end. To complete suturing operation, 3-4 interrupted sutures are applied behind liver margin using thread ends, with only difference that loose thread end is not passed through last through-going passage, but is wound past liver margin. Proposed suture needle is formed as curved sharpened rod having base 1, eyelet 6 and neck 10 arranged near sharpened tip, ligature-applying fixative mounted on neck 10, and movable sleeve 7. Ligature-holding grooves 3 are formed between neck 10 and sharpened tip. Neck 10 carries additional ligature-applying fixatives and brake intended to decelerate movement of sleeve 7. Brake is made in form of atraumatic, helically wound, guide grooves 9 and 11 formed on sleeve 7 and neck 10. Outer surface of movable sleeve 7 is formed with longitudinally extending atraumatic recesses 8. There are also provided between neck 10 and blunt end of base 1 additional longitudinal ligature-holding grooves 13, while additional ligature-applying fixatives are formed as slots 12. EFFECT: useful invention for operations on liver. 2 cl, 10 dwg
