FIELD: measurement technology, examination of strained-deformed state of flat models made from isotropic optically sensitive materials. SUBSTANCE: in agreement with proposed method model is loaded with the aid of cylindrical indenter having length equal to thickness a of model and diameter within (0.5-10.0) thickness of model which is put on model with flat surfaces flush with flat surf sees of model. Strain-measuring devices used to measure value of relative lateral deformation ε and value of relative longitudinal deformation e are installed before test at distance C equal to a/10 - a/4 from point of force application and along and transverse to its direction. Coefficient of lateral deformation is found as relation of these deformations. EFFECT: increased accuracy of determination of coefficient of lateral deformation by exclusion of influence of edge effect and calibration, reduced labour input as there is no necessity for manufacture of calibration specimen, expanded class of measurements to models with unspecified shape of outline. 3 cl, 10 dwg
