FIELD: oil industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves selection of samples of sediments, educing non-solvable organic material from them, manufacturing of transparent carbonic-petrography slide which is polished on two sides, investigation of slide in direct and reflecting light under microscope in order to detect reflecting index of organic material. Retrogressive evolution of oil rocks is judged by reflection index of sorbose mixtinite in air (Ra). If Ra index is in range of 52-61 %, initial intermediate retrogressive evolution is present. If Ra index is in range of 61-64 %, intermediate retrogressive evolution is present. If Ra index is in range of 64-70%, then deep retrogressive evolution is present.
