FIELD: oil exploration. SUBSTANCE: borehole device with gamma-emission detector is displaced to measure intensity of natural gamma emission of geological formations surrounding borehole and water content of the same formations using neutral logging device. From intensity of natural gamma emission, one determines radium gamma equivalent of rock. From ratio of water content to radium gamma equivalent one estimates perceptiveness of explored beds.
