FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: when implementing the method within the first half of the mesocatalysis, an organic substance soluble in organic solvents (bitumen) obtained by extraction with a polar organic solvent (the most common chloroform, dichloromethane, a mixture of alcohol and benzene) is analyzed. A bitumoid analysis is carried out and the absolute or relative content of benzonaphthofuran isomers is determined. The maturity of the oil-source rock is judged by the benzonaphthofuran ratio-BNFR, which is determined by the areas of the peaks of benzo [b] naphtho [1.2-d] furan and benzo [b] naphtho [2.3-d] furan, determined by the results of chromatographic analysis of rock extracts, according to the formula

wherein the rock is considered mature, if this ratio is greater than 0.62, at BNFR values from 0.40 to 0.72 the zone of initial mesocatalysis corresponding to the gradation MK1 (on the scale of Neruchev, Vassoevich, Loptin) is fixed, at BNFR values from 0.72 to 1.14 the zone of average mesocatalogenesis of MK2 is fixed, and at BNFR values of 1.14 and more, the zone of deep mesocatalysis of MK3 is fixed.
