FIELD: powder metallurgy; production of carbides and compositions on their bases from wastes. SUBSTANCE: wastes of heavy and hard alloys are oxidized in the air at 900-1000 C to obtain loose oxide product. Oxides are placed, for instance, into muffle shaft furnace, and after sealing and attaining temperature of 850-950 C, supplied to furnace space is endothermic gas atmosphere containing 5-8 vol.% of methane, and process of reduction and carbidizing treatment are effected. Carbon content is corrected at 850-900 C, but supplied instead of methane is 3-5% of carbon dioxide.
