MAKE-AND-BRAKE WRENCH FOR PIPES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2086399 C1

FIELD: oil industry. SUBSTANCE: lever 4 is articulated through axle 3 with make-and-brake wrench jaw 1. Round chuck 6 is articulated with handle 4 by means of axle 5. Chuck 6 is provided with eccentric holes for mounting the chuck on axle 3. The chuck is made up of two parts positioned on corresponding side of lever 4. Installed on jaw 1 are chucks 9 and 10. Spring 12 is placed between shank 2 of jaw 1 and lever 4. When an effort is applied to lever 4 the force is distributed evenly over three point s of pipe 13: chucks 9,10 and both parts of chuck 6 thus providing for gripping the pipe.
