METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR RECONDITIONING OF RAILWAY TRACK BALLAST LAYER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; repair of permanent way. SUBSTANCE: device for reconditioning of track ballast layer has frame resting on running bogies and the following devices mounted on frame : old ballast cutout device, old ballast conveyor, conveyor for laying ballast protection layer oil ballast crusher, crushed ballast conveyor, planer and sealer. Intake end of old ballast conveyor is located in zone of installation of old ballast cutout device, and discharge end of this conveyor is located in zone of old ballast crusher. With device operating, old ballast is removed, cleaning simultaneously the earth bed, then ballast protective layer is laid and compacted after which new crushed stone is placed on this layer. Part of old ballast is crushed. Ballast protection layer consists of sand and crushed ballast mixed together. EFFECT: improved quality of repair. 14 cl, 6 dwg
