FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has chock with plurality of concentric primary beads adjoining to place, where metal flow supplied from ladle comes into collision with chock. Height of concentric beads is sufficient to form recirculation pockets. As a result, turbulence is reduced without baffling of molten metal from metal flow in radial direction outside along chock. Radial distance between adjacent portions of primary beads measured between upper inner edge surfaces in related radial point is at least double the height of inner adjacent portions of primary beads.
