FIELD: organic chemistry, more particularly recovery of triethylene diamine from reaction mixtures. SUBSTANCE: after synthesis stage, catalysts are directed to rectification stage in which highly volatile impurities are removed in first stage, triethylene diamine is recovered in second stage in the form of azeotropic mixture by addition of azeotropic remover thereto. The azeotropic remover includes substances of aromatic hydrocarbons having boiling temperature of 155-195 C and/or acyclic hydrocarbons having boiling temperature of 150-210 C or mixture thereof with paraffin hydrocarbons having boiling temperature of 150-210 C. Triethylene diamine is recovered from azeotropic mixture by crystallization on cooling. The claimed method makes it possible to obtain highly pure (more than 99 wt%) at great recovery degree (80-90 wt% or more). The color of the product remains unchanged during storage and technological difficulties are avoided. EFFECT: more efficient recovery method. 1 tbl
