FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: aliphatic C2-C9-carboxylic acids are heated with hydrazine hydrate at molar ratio 1:(1.3-1.7) at 105-118 C and under inert gas flow. Reaction mixture is then mixed with water at volume ratio 1:(4-5) and cooled to temperature not superior to 20 C. Resultant precipitate is filtered off, washed with water, and dried.
