FIELD: measurement technology, vibrating wire transducers with pulse excitation. SUBSTANCE: oscillations are excited in vibrating wire transducer by pulse of maximum permissible amplitude, number of measurements of frequency are taken as oscillations die out and results are stored. These results are compared during processing and result which differs from preceding one by less than permissible value is assumed as true value. EFFECT: increased authenticity of method. 1 tbl
