METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THE TECHNICAL CONDITION OF A PIPELINE BY ANALYZING THE MODAL DAMPING DECREMENT Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC G01N29/46

Abstract RU 2778631 C1

FIELD: pipelines diagnosing.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for diagnosing the technical condition of the pipeline. The substance of the invention lies in the fact that mechanical oscillations are generated in the pipeline wall by means of an inertial resonator and the pipeline oscillations are registered by means of a piezoelectric sensor, while the inertial resonator excites resonant oscillations in the pipeline wall, after which, when the external power source of the inertial resonator is instantly turned off, the resonator further rotates by inertia with slowing down the rotational speed when the resonator runs out to a complete stop; during the run-out of the resonator, the damped oscillations of the pipeline walls are continuously recorded by a piezoelectric sensor; the recorded damped signal of the vibrations of the pipeline walls is divided into the required number of equal time intervals, for each of which a spectrum is formed for subsequent comparison of the obtained time spectra in order to redistribute the vibrational energy in these spectra, while the presence and size of the defect is judged by the damping decrement of each frequency; in this case, the criterion that determines the required number of identical time intervals is the decay rate of the recorded signal: the lower the signal decay rate, the greater the number of identical time intervals; in this case, the value of identical time intervals is determined by the sampling rate of technical means.

EFFECT: increasing the reliability and accuracy of assessing the technical condition of the pipeline.
